The Perfect Office Chair – by Jenny Gill

July 20, 2011 by Chair Hire Birmingham

An office chair will come in all sizes, colors, and shapes. Ergonomics means that a chair has a healthy design. Chairs may come with adjustable parts. All the while, the human body comes in many different shapes and sizes.

Some may be tall, other short. Some require a large chair, while others prefer a smaller width. As much as we may want it to, the human body isn’t as flexible as an ergonomic chair. Even though it isn’t possible to find the perfect office chair for everyone, it’s quite possible to get adjusted to all types of seating.

Even if you aren’t able to find the perfect office chair, you can always use techniques to make the most of the situation. They can help make proper use of the body and even enhance your coordination as well. The idea here is to hold your neck in such a way that the length of your spine and neck aren’t shortened or curved in any way.

There is no ergonomically designed office chair that can force your body into the correct position it should be in. It’s up to your body and mind to sit in a healthy manner.

When it comes right down to it, finding the perfect office chair is all a matter of what’s best for you. Office chairs come in all different shapes and sizes, such as human bodies. If you try out several chairs, you’ll find the perfect chair for your particular body size.

Once you’ve found your perfect office chair, you can relax like never before. At the office, finding the perfect chair for yourself is something you must do. Finding your perfect office chair isn’t that hard – all you have to do is look around.

Office Chairs and Your Options – by Joe Bella

June 6, 2011 by Chair Hire Birmingham

Being in the office business, you should expect to pay around 250 – 350 dollars for a good office chair. Even though top of the line chairs can cost thousands of dollars, they usually aren’t more comfortable than a 300 dollar chair. Instead of paying thousands for the chair, you’re normally paying thousands for the brand name instead.
For those on a budget who don’t want to spend a lot of money on office chairs, less expensive chairs are available for around 100 dollars per model. Global and Wallace are among the best in this venue.
If you’re tired of the average office chair and find yourself experiencing chronic back pain, an exercise ball chair may be the chair you’ve been looking for. Some varieties can be very cramped and hard on the back; which is where ball chairs can really help you out.
Ball chairs are the new and alternative solutions to traditional office chairs. They are even a bit exciting, different, and provide your back with plenty of support while you sit, almost making you free from any of your back problems. Using an exercise ball as a chair is an excellent way to maintain the correct posture when sitting.
When choosing the right ball chair for your needs, here are some tips to help you:
- The size of the chair should keep your feet on the floor while you sit, with your arms resting comfortably on the desk. When you sit on the ball chair, you should keep your legs forming a 90 degree angle at the knees. Any more or any less will mean that the chair isn’t right for you.

- Your weight is a very important factor when choosing this type of chair. If your weight compresses the chair and flattens it, you need to get a bigger ball chair. If you happen to be very light in weight, you can under-inflate.
Ball chairs will keep your back and abdominal muscles active because of the slight bouncing it provides. Therefore, you can maintain proper posture, which helps to prevent back problems. Even though these are great alternatives to a standard office chair, you should consult a doctor before you purchase one. If you’ve had any back problems or surgeries, you want to get a doctor’s advice before you make that final purchase.

New Chairs and Chair Repairs – What’s best for you? – by The Chair Hospital

New Chairs and Chair Repairs – What’s best for you?

Are you trying to figure out what chair to buy? or are you thinking… Should I even bother repairing my chair?

Well depending on your situation and circumstances, these questions can have entirely different answers.
In this article we’ll explore choosing a new office chair, office chair repairs, and timber and dining chair repairs.

Choosing an Office Chair

Firstly when buying a new office chair, if you can afford it, I would recommend spending a little more to get a quality office chair, and maybe getting some advice from a professional, e.g. one of the staff at The Chair Hospital www.chairhospital.com . There are a few reasons which may be fairly obvious when I suggest buying a quality new office chair.

Here are some:

# A quality office chair will be designed to be ergonomic, and if you spend long periods of time (sometimes 8+ hrs a day) sitting in it, it is important to have a well supported, comfortable, posture fitting office chair.

# Quality will last. There are plenty of office chairs selling at major retailers (that are not office chair specialists) that are made in China with the poorest possible quality materials. New Office Chairs that may cost you around $100, but are made to last less than a year, and aren’t comfortable in the first place.
Would you prefer to buy a cheap office chair once a year, or a quality one that will last a long time, look good and be comfortable?
For me, and I’m sure for you, the answer to that question is simple.

# This may sound funny, but a comfortable, quality office chair can affect your mood, productivity, attention span, personal interactions, your sleep at night, and if you think about it, many more things.

Office Chair Repairs

Office Chair Repairs are a great, cost effective way to keep the chair you now own, and have probably grown attached to, in good, safe working order. Your office chair may be fine except for one part e.g. gas lift, broken castors, dirty upholstery, it is wobbly etc. and the best solution will be for it to undertake office chair repairs. If you have dirty upholstery it may be possible to steam clean the upholstery before it is necessary to replace it. By maintaining your office chair you are extending its’ life by replacing only what is needed, which not only saves you money, it’s better for the environment. It’s as simple as contacting your local chair repairer. If you’re in Sydney “The Chair Hospital” 0295223621 www.chairhospital.com.

Timber Chair Repairs

It’s terribly annoying when one of your dining chairs break. Will I have to buy a new set? How much will that cost? Well… buying a new set isn’t the only solution. Most of the time these things can be repaired, saving time, fuel and money scouring suburban shopping malls, possibly buying something you didn’t intend to buy in the first place, just looking to replace the dining set you already liked and found comfortable.
Maybe you don’t like them and were looking for an excuse to get new ones anyway. Either way the point of this is to show you that you have options. After long periods of time and sometimes short ones, depending on the quality of products, the glue that holds your timber chairs together will lose its grip and your chairs will feel loose and susceptible to dangerous, and also sometimes embarrassing collapses. By checking your chairs to see if they are beginning to come loose, you can circumvent them collapsing and most probably from breaking. If you have discovered that your chairs need re gluing it’s as easy as finding your local timber chair repairer (if you are in Sydney, “The Chair Hospital” 0295223621) and getting them to professionally re glue your chairs so they are as good as new. It’s great way to make your chairs last as long you would like them to. Extra options you could consider are steam cleaning your chairs fabric (a great way to bring your fabric back to life and remove stubborn stains), re upholstery (when the stains are too bad, your fabric is torn, or you like your chairs design, comfort or sentimentality, and you’d like a fresh look), or having your chairs painted or polished (the surface of your chairs are faded, scratched, or you’d like a new look).
If you’d like to learn more you can contact your local chair repairer or visit www.chairhospital.com and if you are in Sydney you can contact The Chair Hospital on 0295223621 or email chairhospital@yahoo.com.au .

Features of a Good Office Chair – by Greg Culver

April 30, 2011 by Chair Hire Birmingham
Filed under chair

An office chair should always be comfortable enough so that you can work for a long time without much exertion. Before you buy an office chair, you should make sure that the chair has all these features.
The features of a good office chair are as follows:
1. Height Adjustable
Every office chair must have a height adjustment facility. The most common way to readily adjust the height of your office chair from a seated position is by pneumatic lever Earlier, to adjust the height of office chair you need to place a foot on the base of the chair and spin it around and around to raise or even lower the height of the chair.
2. Characteristics Of Seat Pan
Following characteristics are required in the office chairs seat pan:
1. Fabric – The fabric of the chair must be durable and permeable material that can dissipate moisture and heat.
2. Seat pan depth – There should be a space about the size of a clenched fist between the back of the knee and front of the chair. This will help maintain proper circulation for the legs.
3. Rounded edge – Rounded edge will prevent uncomfortable pressure at the back of the legs or behind the knees found at the front of the seat pan.
4. Seat pan tilt – This will allow room for posture changes and also help to alleviate pressure on the back of the thighs.
3. Backrest adjustment
A backrest adjustment helps to overcome the discomfort associated with sitting for long period of time. Characteristics of a good backrest adjustment are as follows:
Height of Backrest – It provide support for the lumbar portion of your lower back and allows you to find the best backrest height.
Backrest tilt – You can also adjust the tilt of the backrest to adopt different postures while still keeping good support for the lower back.
Horizontal backrest movement – The horizontal adjustment allows side to side adjustment, making the chair a little deeper for those who need it.
4. Stability – A good office chair will have a five pronged base with the soft casters for hard surface and hard casters for soft surface casters. Chairs with four prongs are more prone to tipping sideways or backwards when the users leans in any direction, thus are less stable. A good office chair is always stable.
5. Armrests
In office chairs an armrest always provide you room to move. Armrest shouldn’t interfere with movement of hands. Computer chairs neednot to have armrests. Armrests are required in chairs that will be used for reading, editing, or even doing work on a deskA good office chair has armrests that are of adjustable height, width, and had adequate padding.

Ergonomic chairs – do you need one? – by Magne Bjorklund

April 19, 2011 by Chair Hire Birmingham
Filed under chair

Often times if you are seated for a long period of time you will find that you have back pain, side pain, neck pain or perhaps you have pain in your legs. If you aren’t working for a week, you find these pains will go away. However, if you continue to work, the pains seem to get worse. These are the symptoms of needing an ergonomic chair. Ergonomic chairs are the types that are going to give you the best support while sitting or working at a desk for an extended time. Ergonomic chairs are not really that expensive when compared to other types of office chairs and the added benefits you will receive from using ergonomic chairs.
If you don’t know if you need an ergonomic chair, we have a few suggestions for you that will help you think about where you sit, how you sit, and to determine if you are feeling pain that is related to how you sit in your chair all the time.
First, does the chair seem to fit your body? Do you feel to big or too small for that chair? If your legs are hanging over the end of the chair and you are not able to reach the floor this is going to be bad for your circulation. If your legs are too long and you are not resting easily in the chair, you are too big for the chair. Not all chairs are created equally and no two bodies are same, these are things you must look at when you will be sitting in the same position all the time.
The chair that you are sitting at should have a soft cushion spot on the front of the chair where your knees hang down over the chair. If the chair is old and you feel as if your knees hurt all the time, this could be due to the chair cutting off the circulation in the back of your knees. It can be difficult to sit still all the time, but if you are not comfortable in the chair, it is not helping your situation at all.
A good chair, an ergonomic chair is going to be one that will adjust up and down to your needs and your leg length. Any type of adjustments to your personal body type will be good in the long run.
Another type of ergonomic chair that you can look for includes the small of your back being supported. While at first sitting, the ergonomic chair may seem to bulge into your lower back but this is the area that needs support, most people find their chairs are not ergonomic chairs not including the extra lower back support.
